1 tomato plant in a 4 inch cup
I had to find this tomato after I saw an image of it in the book The Heirloom Tomato: From Garden to Table by author Amy Goldman.
It originated in Western North Carolina. Very large pink beefsteak tomato with red flesh and excellent flavor. Crack resistant. Flavour is excellent.
A few years back I had a gentleman show up at my plant sale asking me for this tomato. I told him that the plants were no longer very nice and I had put them in my compost pile. I had many other healthy vibrant plants left to choose from but he really wanted African Queen. He said he randomly bought some from me the previous year and they were the best tomato ever. I went and got some sad looking plants from my compost for him and made his day!
