Piment d'Espelette is a pepper popular in the Basque Region between France and Spain. It is used in everything from eggs to seafood to spirits and chocolate!
The flavour is fruity with a bit of smokiness. It has just a mild to medium heat. It's great everywhere and is perfect as a finishing spice. We have ground as a coarse powder.
Piment Espelette is a protected name as to be called Espelette it is supposed to be grown in Espelette. Otherwise it must be called Gorria pepper. We have only a small batch this year and already printed the bottles. However, moving on we will switch to Gorria on labels.
