Capsicum chinense
All things considered – flavour, heat, plant size, and yields – this is one of our favourite habaneros. The elongated, knobbly fruit are very hot and have a flavour redolent of lemons. They measure about 9 x 38mm and mature from light green to pastel yellow.
The plants have a compact, bushy growth habit that makes them ideal for growing unsupported in small pots 1 to 5 litres in volume. Despite their size, they are extremely prolific and produce dozens and dozens of fruit throughout the growing season.
